Osun Babes returned to winning ways on Tuesday with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Robo Queens in a keenly contested South-West derby, thanks to a decisive strike from Tijani Nofisat.
The encounter, played at the Lanreleke Sports Complex in Ile-Ogbo, kicked off at 4 p.m. under sunny conditions and lived up to expectations from the outset. Both sides showed intensity and discipline, with Robo Queens who have already qualified for the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six matching the hosts in organisation and attacking intent.
Despite their qualification status, Robo Queens approached the game with purpose, aiming to maintain momentum ahead of the playoffs. Their structured play and attacking threat posed a constant challenge for Osun Babes.
However, the hosts, who have struggled for form in recent weeks, were determined to make a statement in front of their home fans. Seeking redemption after a 3–0 defeat in the reverse fixture, Osun Babes delivered a spirited performance.
The breakthrough came in the 36th minute when Tijani Nofisat unleashed a superb strike to give her side the lead, making it the only goal of the match. Osun Babes held firm for the remainder of the game, showing resilience to secure all three points.
The victory offers a timely boost for Osun Babes as they prepare for their next fixture against Delta Queens on Wednesday, May 6, where they will look to build on this result as the season approaches its final stretch.
