The National Sports Commission (NSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has set up a Welfare Committee to oversee the well-being of the Super Falcons during their title defence at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The seven-member committee will be chaired by NFF Executive Board member Aisha Falode, while Ruth David will serve as secretary.
Other members of the committee include Rt. Hon. Margaret Icheen, Babagana Kalli, Emeka Iyama, Aderonke Tinuoye, and Tobechukwu Oluchi.
Speaking on the initiative, NSC Director-General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, said the Federal Government is committed to ensuring the Super Falcons enjoy a smooth campaign throughout the tournament.
Olopade stressed that the move is aimed at preventing issues relating to players’ welfare, finances, and other off-field concerns that could affect the team’s performance.
The Super Falcons have been drawn in Group C alongside debutants Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt.
Justine Madugu’s side will open their campaign against Malawi on Tuesday, July 28, at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.
The 2026 WAFCON tournament will take place in Morocco from July 26 to August 16.
