Edo Queens have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership after finishing top of the Super Six playoffs with 10 points from five matches in Port Harcourt.
The Benin City-based side secured the title on the final day of the competition following a hard-fought goalless draw against defending champions Bayelsa Queens at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
The result was enough to see Edo Queens finish two points clear of Bayelsa Queens and reclaim the league crown, marking their second NWFL Premiership title.
The triumph also earns Edo Queens Nigeria’s sole ticket to the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers, where they will battle for a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League. The regional tournament is scheduled to hold in Burkina Faso from August 13 to September 5.
Nasarawa Amazons finished third on eight points, while Abia Angels impressed on their Super Six debut by placing fourth with six points. Rivers Angels and FC Robo Queens ended the playoffs in fifth and sixth positions respectively.
The title success further cemented the reputation of head coach Moses Aduku, who became the first manager to win three NWFL Premiership titles within five seasons. Aduku previously guided Bayelsa Queens to the championship in 2022 before leading Edo Queens to league glory in 2024 and again this season.
Edo Queens’ latest achievement underlines their growing dominance in Nigerian women’s football and sets the stage for another continental campaign.
