Nigeria and Uganda will face off in a decisive Group C fixture of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, with qualification still at stake for the Cranes.

The Super Eagles enter the match as favourites after sealing qualification with two wins from their opening games. Uganda, however, sit third in the group with one point and must secure a victory to keep their tournament hopes alive.

Historically, this will be just the second AFCON finals meeting between both sides. Uganda won their previous encounter, a 2–1 semi-final victory in 1978, and remain unbeaten in their last three meetings with Nigeria. Overall, Uganda has four wins to Nigeria’s two, with two draws.

Uganda are winless in their last five AFCON matches, having scored twice and conceded four goals in the tournament so far. Nigeria, meanwhile, have beaten Tanzania and Tunisia, scoring in nine consecutive AFCON matches and eyeing a clean sweep of group victories.

With qualification assured, Nigeria coach Eric Chelle may rotate his squad, while Uganda coach Paul Put insists his side must deliver a strong result to change their situation. Both teams have stressed the importance of taking chances in what promises to be a high-stakes encounter.
