The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has announced that the winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Morocco will receive a record $10 million in prize money, marking a significant increase from previous tournaments.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe revealed the new prize amount on Saturday, following a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee in Rabat, Morocco just one day before the tournament kicks off. The AFCON Morocco 2025 tournament is set to run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
In a statement posted on CAF’s official website, Motsepe highlighted that the winner’s prize represents a 43% increase over the 2023 edition when hosts Côte d’Ivoire claimed $7 million. Additionally, the prize fund has more than doubled in the past four years, with the 2021 AFCON champions receiving $5 million and 2023 winners earning $7 million.

This year’s increase is a part of CAF’s broader efforts to raise the profile of the competition and attract global attention to African football.
