The Super Eagles forward, who scored twice in Thursday’s 4-1 victory over Gabon, acknowledged the pressure of representing both his country and his club, Galatasaray.
However, he stressed that maintaining composure and correcting mistakes is key to his success.
According to a video shared on Instagram by journalists, Osimhen discussed the mental resilience required for a professional striker. “Sometimes I score goals that no one expects, and sometimes I miss the ones people think are easy. But that doesn’t affect me. I always keep the right mindset,” he explained.
Despite missing two clear chances during the match, Osimhen made up for it by scoring in extra time. Reflecting on his approach to setbacks, he said, “After missing those chances, I told my teammates I would correct it. And I’m happy I did that when it mattered most in extra time.”
Osimhen also praised the strong team spirit, emphasizing the importance of collective support. “Kudos to my teammates who assisted in both my goals. The mentality of this team is amazing,” he said. “We all work together, and that’s what makes us stronger.”

The striker also expressed his gratitude toward fans, saying, “A big thank you to the Super Eagles supporters around the world. This victory is for them, for everyone who has stood by us.”
Osimhen acknowledged the challenges in the upcoming rounds but reassured fans that the team is fully committed. “The next round won’t be easy, but we’ll give everything to ensure we reach the final,” he vowed.
Osimhen’s brace helped Nigeria secure a 4-1 extra-time win over Gabon at Stade Mohammed V in Rabat, Morocco. After a goalless first half, Akor Adams gave Nigeria the lead, Gabon equalized late in regulation, and Osimhen, alongside Chidera Ejuke, sealed the win in extra time.
