Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has intensified efforts to strengthen security across the state through a series of strategic consultations aimed at preventing potential threats and ensuring the safety of residents.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, and shared on the official X handle of the Osun State Government.

According to the statement, the governor’s security engagements, which commenced two days ago, have focused on reviewing the state’s security architecture and consulting with key stakeholders in both formal and community-based security structures.

As part of the ongoing consultations, Governor Adeleke met with representatives of local hunters, the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Agbekoya groups, and the Osun Amotekun Corps. Discussions centred on strengthening collaboration between local security networks and conventional security agencies.

Government sources said the meetings were aimed at developing a coordinated security framework capable of addressing emerging threats and enhancing public safety across the state.

The consultations also enabled the governor to receive intelligence reports on vulnerable locations, potential flashpoints, and border communities requiring heightened security attention.

On Tuesday, Adeleke convened the formal State Security Council meeting at the Governor’s Office in Osogbo. The meeting was attended by heads of security agencies and service commanders operating in the state, who reviewed the security situation and discussed proactive measures to curb criminal activities.

Speaking after the meeting, the Governor’s Security Adviser, Samuel Ojo, said participants agreed on several preventive strategies designed to avert security breaches, including possible school abductions.

While declining to disclose operational details, Ojo assured residents that adequate measures had been put in place to sustain peace and security across the state.

“The details of the security strategy are being kept confidential. But, on behalf of Mr Governor, I want to assure our people that Osun remains safe and secure,” he said.

The latest round of security consultations reflects the Adeleke administration’s commitment to proactive security management amid growing concerns over insecurity in some parts of the country.

Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information that could help prevent crime and safeguard communities across the state.
