The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has confirmed that it has received the contact addresses, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses of representatives of those who submitted the petition for the recall of Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

This was made known in a statement by the electoral body’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information & Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, which stated the missing details have now been provided.

Earlier in the week, Rédíò Afínjú had earlier reported that INEC confirmed that it received the petition to recall Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan but said it did not meet the requirements for the action.

The electoral body noted that it had sent an official letter to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan informing her of the receipt of the recall petition while adding that scrutinizing the signatories list to ensure more than half of registered voters signed is the next line of action.

However, the Commission reassured Nigerians that the process will be open and transparent.
