The Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, in a statement in Kaduna, said the operation was conducted in the general areas of Sabon Birni, Dogon Dawa, Maidaro, Ngede Alpha, and Rafin Kaji on Sunday.
He said during the operation, troops made contact with terrorist elements, leading to a firefight that resulted in the killing of one terrorist, while others fled with suspected gunshot injuries.
The Army spokesman added that the troops recovered four AK-47 magazines, a PKT belt with 86 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles, a Techno mobile phone, a Baofeng Handheld Radio, and an Airtel recharge card valued at N5,000.
Yahaya quoted the General Officer Commanding the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, Mayirenso Saraso, to have commended the troops for their success and urged them to continue making life unbearable for terrorists, insurgents, and their collaborators.
