The National Chairman of the Accord Party, Prof. Chris Imumolen, has said that afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is welcome to join the party but must align with what he described as its “authentic leadership.”
Imumolen made the remark, while responding to reports that Davido plans to collect his Accord Party membership card in Osun State, following Governor Ademola Adeleke’s declaration that he intends to seek re-election on the party’s platform.
The Accord chairman said the party was open to new members but stressed that structures recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must be respected.
According to him, Governor Adeleke currently holds what he termed a “disputed ticket” issued by a factional leadership of the party.

“Davido is welcome in Accord, but he must align with the party’s authentic leadership unlike Governor Adeleke, who holds a disputed ticket from a factional leadership,” Imumolen said.
Governor Adeleke recently confirmed that he joined the Accord Party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved leadership issues within the PDP at the national level.
The development has triggered fresh alignment and contestation within the Accord Party ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.
