The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and Saidu Mohammed as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The confirmations followed their screening by the Senate joint committees on petroleum upstream, downstream, and gas, chaired by Senator Kawu Sumaila.
Presenting the committee’s report, Sumaila said the nominees were thoroughly assessed through interactive sessions that evaluated their qualifications, professional competence, and responses to lawmakers’ questions.
He noted that the committees were satisfied with the nominees’ expertise and recommended their confirmation.
The Senate approved the nominations after the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, who presided over plenary, put the report to a voice vote.
