The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, was formally installed as the Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodu’a in a grand ceremony on Sunday.
Her arrival in Ile-Ife was met with great fanfare, accompanied by a heavy security presence.
Senator Tinubu arrived at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, where she was warmly received by the monarch and his chiefs. The installation took place at the Palace Square, coinciding with the 10th coronation anniversary of Oba Ogunwusi, who ascended the throne a decade ago.

The event, which has drawn dignitaries from across the country, is currently ongoing, with notable figures in attendance including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar; former President Olusegun Obasanjo; and former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, among others.
The installation of the First Lady in this prestigious role highlights her growing influence in Nigerian society and her close ties to the traditional institutions of the Yoruba people.
As the ceremony unfolds, more guests are expected to arrive to join in the celebration of both the First Lady’s new title and the Ooni’s remarkable decade-long reign.
