Sean “Diddy” Combs has issued a formal apology ahead of his sentencing for prostitution-related convictions, taking “full responsibility” for his actions and pleading for leniency.
In a letter to the judge presiding over the case, Combs expressed regret for the harm he caused, particularly to ex-partner Cassie Ventura and another woman identified in court as “Jane.”
“I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved,” he wrote, referring to Ventura. “My domestic violence will always be a heavy burden that I will have to forever carry.”
He also acknowledged Jane’s testimony, saying he had believed he was helping her and her child, but now recognized the harm he inflicted. “For this, I am deeply sorry,” he wrote.
Combs attributed his actions to “selfishness,” drug use, and “excess,” saying his time in detention had forced him to reflect. “The old me died in jail and a new version of me was reborn,” he wrote.
The music mogul asked the court for a second chance—to be a better father, son, and community leader. “No amount of money, power, or fame can save me,” he added. “Only God can.”

Combs was convicted on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution. He was acquitted of more serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
Federal prosecutors are seeking an 11-year sentence, calling him “unrepentant.” His defense team is requesting time served, approximately 14 months.
