Team Lagos clinched the top spot on the medals table with a total of 110 medals, including 52 gold, 32 silver, and 26 bronze, affirming the state’s dominance in youth sports.

In a congratulatory message, Sanwo-Olu praised the athletes, coaches, and the Lagos State Sports Commission for their efforts, saying the victory reflected the state’s growing investment in sports development. He also hinted at plans to officially celebrate the team’s historic achievement.

“Congratulations, Team Lagos. We are very proud of you all,” he said.

Host state Delta finished second with 37 gold, 38 silver, and 39 bronze medals, pushing Edo State to third place.

At the closing ceremony at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori applauded all participants and called on the National Sports Commission to address the issue of age cheating to preserve the integrity of youth competitions.

Team Lagos’ triumph further solidifies the state’s position as a major force in grassroots sports, driven by strong talent development and consistent support.
