In an announcement via its official X handle, INEC revealed that eligible Nigerians can now begin their registration online through the portal www.cvr.inecnigeria.org. This phase precedes the physical registration exercise, which will soon follow.
According to the commission, in-person registration will be available at all 37 state offices and the 774 local government area (LGA) offices across the country. This is to ensure convenient access for all prospective voters.
The CVR exercise is open to new voters aged 18 and above, as well as individuals who wish to transfer or collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or replace lost or damaged ones.
INEC warned against multiple registrations, stating that violators will face penalties in accordance with electoral laws. The commission encouraged citizens to take advantage of the registration exercise, emphasizing that voter registration is a vital component of inclusive democratic participation.
For further assistance, members of the public are advised to contact INEC via its call centre on 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632) or through the short code 4632.
Reaffirming its commitment to strengthening democracy, INEC assured that every eligible Nigerian would have the opportunity to register and participate in upcoming elections.
