The declaration was made during the inauguration of the NNPP’s offices in the Ila, Boripe, and Ifelodun local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the event, Osun NNPP Chairman, Tosin Odeyemi, expressed confidence in the party’s chances of clinching victory in 2026, citing the incumbent administration’s perceived shortcomings and the economic challenges facing the country.
Odeyemi stated that the current economic hardship is demarketing the APC at the federal level, while the PDP administration in Osun has shown limited capacity to improve governance, stating it gives the NNPP party an edge as it gear up to end Governor Adeleke’s reign.
However, the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, dismissed the NNPP’s claims as baseless.
Speaking to journalists, the PDP’s Director of Media and Publicity, Oladele Bamiji, described the NNPP’s position as empty rhetoric, emphasising Governor Adeleke’s strong performance since assuming office.
He added that the NNPP is just trying to please their sponsors.
Bamiji further said NNPP cannot stop the re-election of a performing governor like Ademola Adeleke. The people of Osun will not allow anyone to derail the progress the state is currently enjoying,”.
The NNPP’s bold claims and the PDP’s firm rebuttal highlight the growing tension as political parties begin preparations for the next governorship election in Osun State.
