In a developing event, a community leader of Ido-Osun land, Moshood Olasupo, while featuring on Redio Afinju’s Yoruba current affairs programme, ‘Gbàgede Ọ̀rọ̀’, noted that 7 out of the 12 kingmakers of Ido-Osun are alive, adding that these same 7 kingmakers made late Oba Aderemi Adedapo King.

Rédíò Afinju earlier reported that Ido Osun Community had accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of interfering in the Olojudo selection process, a move which, according to them, was political.

He hinted that the Adesina family is the rightful family to take over the stool after the demise of the late king out of the ruling families in the land, which is contrary to the rumoured preference of the Osun State Government.

Olasupo, however, highlighted that the arrest of the Otun Balogun of Ido-Osun, Rasheed Odeyemi, by Officers of the Police force, was a way to hijack the selection process, and this would in turn, cause uproar in the land.

Meanwhile, the Eesa of Ido-Osun land, Oyewale Bashiru, also accused the Osun State Government of using veto power in by attempting to replace the legitimate kingmakers with government-appointed warrant chiefs, who are meant to be used to sideline the traditional processes in favour of Government’s preferred candidate.

Bashiru further noted that until the intervention of the State Government, the atmosphere in the land had been peaceful as each of the 17 candidates signed a memorandum of understanding, committing to peaceful conduct all through the selection process.

He also debunked every form of religious prejudice in the selection process and however urged the Osun State Government to steer clear, as Kingship has nothing to do with politics.

Rédíò Afinju will keep you abreast of the event as it unfolds.
