Delta State police foiled a kidnapping attempt at the graduation ceremony of the Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara. Police operatives received a tip-off about a planned abduction and swiftly responded by targeting the suspected kidnappers’ hideout.
According to the police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, the kidnappers had devised a plan to target guests attending the graduation ceremony. Acting on the information, the police mobilized and launched a raid on the kidnappers’ hideout in a nearby bush.
Upon encountering the police, the suspected kidnappers attempted to flee but were pursued and engaged in a shootout. Several of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries and escaped into the nearby bushes. The police recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, an English pump action gun, and a locally made gun from the hideout.
A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects. The successful operation underscores the Delta State police’s commitment to preventing and disrupting criminal activities in the state.
