The Osun State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Public Relations Officer, Musa Olurode, has explained that the delay in the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) is due to the Commission’s ongoing verification process aimed at detecting multiple registrations and other irregularities to ensure a credible election.

Olurode made the clarification during an interview on Afinju 90.7FM’s current affairs programme, Hard Punch, in response to concerns from residents who are yet to receive their PVCs, despite the governorship election drawing closer.

The delay has fueled public suspicion, with some questioning whether it could be a tactic to manipulate the electoral process.

The INEC PRO disclosed that the commission has been conducting the voter registration process since August 2025, and announced that the it published the official register of voters on Thursday, July 9, 2026, as part of its commitment to transparency.

According to Olurode, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Osun State, Toyin Babalola, has been engaging with INEC’s national headquarters on the production and delivery of the PVCs and has received assurances that they will be ready in time for the election.

While he did not give a specific date for the arrival of the PVCs in Osun State, Olurode assured residents that the cards are on their way to the state. He urged the people of Osun to remain calm, assuring all eligible voters that their PVCs would be distributed before August 15.

Olurode emphasized that PVC production and distribution are procedural processes and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to conducting its activities in line with the Electoral Act while ensuring openness and transparency throughout the electoral process.
