The All Progressives Congress, APC, has officially launched its Governorship Primary Election in Osun State, with all preparations now complete.
A total of 1,666 delegates are currently being accredited by officials from the Primary Election Committee to select the party’s candidate for next year’s Governorship race. Observers from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have also arrived to ensure the transparency and fairness of the process.
While the primary election is underway, it is widely expected that Bola Oyebamiji will emerge as the APC’s candidate. This comes after a consensus was reached among other aspirants to support the party leadership’s decision in selecting Oyebamiji.

At a stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday, Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, and Co-Chairman Lucky Aiyedatiwa, called on party members to maintain unity throughout the process. They emphasized the importance of cohesion, stating that it would be crucial in ensuring the party’s success in the 2026 Governorship election and securing victory against the incumbent.
As the primary unfolds, all eyes are on whether the party can maintain this unity and present a strong, unified front for the upcoming election.
