Champz, the 14-year-old son of global music icon Wizkid, has shared the influences behind his much-anticipated debut EP, Champion’s Arrival.
In an exclusive interview with Glitch Africa, the rising star opened up about the artists and sounds that shaped his breakthrough project.
Drawing from a blend of Afro-fusion and UK rap, Champz cited several key inspirations, including UK rappers J Hus, Asko, Nines, and Clavish.
These artists have significantly influenced his distinct sound, which merges Afro-swing with the gritty flows of UK drill, creating a dynamic fusion of street narratives and Afrobeat vibes.

Since its release, Champion’s Arrival has made an impressive impact, breaking records across streaming platforms. The EP reached Number One on Apple Music Nigeria’s Top Albums chart just five hours after its launch, and it surpassed one million streams within the first 24 hours, cementing Champz as a rising force in the global music scene.
