Mohamed Salah has opened the door to a potential Liverpool exit with a scathing attack on manager Arne Slot, accusing him of “throwing him under the bus” during the team’s recent struggles. The Egyptian forward’s comments, made after Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Leeds, could signal the end of his legendary tenure at Anfield.
Salah, who was left on the bench for the third consecutive match, did not make an appearance as a substitute. His frustration was palpable in his comments to reporters at Elland Road.
“I’m very disappointed,” Salah said. “I’ve done so much for this club over the years, especially last season. Now, I’m sitting on the bench, and I don’t know why. It feels like the club has thrown me under the bus. Someone is trying to make me take all the blame.”
The 33-year-old forward further expressed dissatisfaction over broken promises made by the club in the summer, saying, “I was told things would be different, but here I am, on the bench for three games in a row. I don’t know what’s happening. It seems like someone doesn’t want me here anymore.”
Despite his discontent, Salah reiterated his loyalty to Liverpool, saying, “I love this club so much. My kids will always support it. But right now, I don’t know what the future holds. I’m just going to enjoy the Brighton game next week, whether I play or not, because I don’t know what comes next.”
Salah has been a pivotal figure for Liverpool since joining in 2017, becoming the club’s third-highest all-time scorer with 250 goals in 420 appearances. He has helped the Reds win two Premier League titles and the Champions League, but his performances have dipped this season. Liverpool has won just two of their last 10 Premier League games, slipping to eighth in the table.

Despite his struggles, Salah has still managed five goals in 19 appearances this season. However, his omission from the starting XI in recent matches, including Wednesday’s 1-1 draw against Sunderland, has raised eyebrows.
Manager Arne Slot defended his decision to leave Salah out against Leeds, citing a tactical need to “control the game” with Liverpool leading 3-2 in the second half. “When you need a goal, like last week against Sunderland, I brought Mo on,” Slot explained.
Salah’s future at Liverpool has been the subject of intense speculation, particularly with continued interest from the Saudi Pro League. His lucrative two-year contract extension in April was supposed to keep him at Anfield for the foreseeable future, but his recent comments have raised doubts about his long-term commitment.
