Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola, popularly known as FRYO, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election.
According to the poll officials who announced the results, Adebayo secured a sweeping victory with 919 votes out of the 957 valid votes cast by accredited delegates at Tuesday’s primary election in Osogbo, the state capital.

His emergence followed a dramatic buildup to the exercise, which saw the name of Governor Ademola Adeleke remain on the ballot despite his earlier announcement of resignation from the party. Election officials had clarified before voting began that any votes cast for Adeleke would be invalid, leaving Adebayo as the clear frontrunner.
Adebayo’s victory positions him as the PDP’s official flagbearer ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial race, setting the stage for what is expected to be a highly competitive election season in Osun State.
