The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Rauf Aregbesola has sharply criticized the administration of the All Progressives Congress, APC, claiming that the party has failed to deliver on key issues such as the economy, security, and overall governance.
Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State, made these remarks during the unveiling of ADC’s campaign in Osogbo, Osun State.
Speaking before a large crowd of supporters, Aregbesola declared that the APC’s time in power would come to an end in the 2027 general election. He urged Nigerians to reject the party, asserting that its leadership has not lived up to expectations in any major sector.
“APC Has Failed, God Is No Longer with Them”
Aregbesola, who played a key role in ADC’s party mobilization across the nine federal constituencies in Osun State, criticized the APC’s governance style. He said, “God has left the present government, even the one at the center. They used to rig elections, we know their tactics.”
In his address, Aregbesola made a passionate plea to Nigerians to support ADC in the upcoming election. He suggested a unique strategy for voters, advising them to care for older women, who he believes play a crucial role in the political process, on election day. “On the day of the poll, give them new clothes, let them sit in groups of 10 per polling booth, and leave the rest to God,” he said.
Aregbesola further criticized the APC for prioritizing selfish interests over collective good. “They started with the word ’emi’ (I), instead of ‘awa’ (we). They have been disgraceful in all sectors—economy, security, and governance,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Aregbesola led ADC leaders to the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, for a courtesy visit. Speaking to the gathered crowd, Aregbesola expressed confidence that ADC would emerge victorious in the next election, and hinted that following the win, the party would meet at the Abere Osun Government Secretariat.

In a statement released by the party’s Directorate of Media and Publicity in Osun, Chairman Oluwaseun Abosede noted that the ADC’s Federal Constituency Tour had drawn massive crowds in Osogbo, as well as in the Osogbo/Olorunda/Irepodun/Orolu areas.
Reacting to Aregbesola’s comments, Kola Olabisi, the Director of Media for the Osun APC, questioned the former interior minister’s stance. “At what point did APC fail?” Olabisi asked, pointing out that Aregbesola had served as both governor for eight years and minister for four years under the very party he now criticizes. “He is attacking himself,” Olabisi added.
Aregbesola had previously advocated for Nigerians to embrace the ADC, asserting that under its leadership, the country would see an end to banditry and other violent crimes. Speaking in Ilesa, Osun State, after his ADC membership card was revalidated, Aregbesola emphasized that he chose the ADC because of its discipline, integrity, and strong values
