Alaka assumed duty at the Ministry within the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where she was received by the substantive Commissioner, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, and other senior officials.
She earned the honour after emerging as the overall winner of an essay competition organised by the Adebiyi Habib Foundation for selected secondary schools.
Before handing over his seat, Arigbabu said the initiative was designed to promote and reward excellence among learners in the state, praising Alaka’s achievement and urging other students to be inspired by her success.

Amid applause, Alaka occupied the Commissioner’s seat, signed official documents, and was taken on a tour of various departments. She used the opportunity to call for greater investment in ICT infrastructure across public schools, noting the increasing shift to computer-based testing in national examinations. She expressed concern that few public schools have functional CBT centres and urged deliberate policy action to close the gap.
Alaka also appealed for improved teachers’ welfare, stressing that education cannot advance beyond the quality and motivation of its workforce. She commended recent reforms in the sector and described the experience as life-changing, saying it would motivate her toward greater academic excellence.
