Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka has been named interim head coach. Daboll, who previously spent four seasons as the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator, joined the Giants in 2022. During his tenure, he posted a 20-40-1 record over 3.5 seasons.

Daboll’s first year with the Giants in 2022 had its bright moments, with the team finishing 9-7-1 and reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2016. However, the Giants’ playoff run ended with a second-round loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

This season, New York has struggled to maintain momentum, including a heartbreaking loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday, where they blew a double-digit lead late in the game. That loss marked their fourth consecutive defeat.

In a joint statement, Giants president John Mara and chairman Steve Tisch explained the decision to part ways with Daboll. “We spoke this morning about the direction of our franchise on the field, and we have decided that, at this time, it is in our best interest to make a change at the head coaching position,” the statement read. “The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing, and we have not met our expectations for this franchise.

We understand the frustrations of our fans, and we will work to deliver a significantly improved product.”

The Giants also confirmed that general manager Joe Schoen will remain in his role and lead the search for a new head coach.
