During an interview, the 42-year-old founder of Mavin Records discussed his past experiences, personal growth, and evolving views on love.

Don Jazzy, who was briefly married in 2003 before divorcing two years later, spoke about the different sides of relationships. Reflecting on his parents’ love story, he shared that witnessing the deep connection between his mother and father had shaped his idealistic view of love.

“My parents were madly in love before my mom died,” he recalled. “We see examples like that that make you believe in relationships and crave it,” he added.

However, the music mogul also acknowledged the negative examples that often make people hesitant about love. He pointed to the rise of publicized breakups and social media drama as factors that fuel his wariness.

“There are bad examples, coming from both sides, some men are violent, chronic cheats,” he said. “When you see people’s dirty laundry aired out online, it makes you fearful. You try to be vulnerable with someone, and then you see this chaos. It gives me fear.”

Don Jazzy also expressed concerns over the financial implications of marriage, particularly in cases of divorce. He highlighted how men, in particular, risk losing half of their assets in the absence of a prenuptial agreement.

“A man has to lose half of all that he has worked for in his life, that’s those who don’t have a prenup,” he explained. “You see people who have struggled their whole lives, but when they divorce, they have to split everything. That scares me. The wealth I’ve amassed is meant for my generation.”

Don Jazzy also gave insight into his current work-life balance, explaining that his days are less about personal appearances and more about delegating responsibilities to his capable team.
