Zulum said the attack happened despite earlier intelligence reports warning that the area was at risk. Speaking after visiting the affected community, he said the use of drones by the terrorists shows a dangerous new threat to national security.
“We had credible intelligence that Mafa would be attacked, and it was shared with all relevant authorities. This calls for serious collaboration between the state, federal government, and military to identify and fix the gaps,” Zulum said.
He described the growing use of drones by non-state actors as alarming, urging the Federal Government to urgently strengthen border control and airspace security.
“This is not just about Borno; it concerns the entire country,” he added.

Zulum commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their efforts and encouraged residents to support security agencies with credible information about suspicious activities.
Meanwhile, troops of Operation Hadin Kai repelled multiple attacks by Boko Haram in Borno and Yobe States, killing over 50 terrorists in coordinated assaults on military bases in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko.
