The move was disclosed during a capacity-building workshop for Senate correspondents in Abuja by a senior official from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, who said the directive prioritizes securing safe passage for farm produce across key transport routes. The goal is to ease logistics bottlenecks and reduce rising costs linked to food distribution.
According to the official, the president’s directive is part of a broader vision for national food sovereignty, one that not only guarantees availability but also affordability, accessibility, and nutrition in a sustainable way.
