The 54-year-old actor broke the news via a somber Instagram post where he shared a photo of the deceased child. Although details surrounding the boy’s death were not disclosed, Chatta expressed his sorrow with a prayerful message.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, dear son, champ,” he wrote.
The announcement has prompted an outpouring of condolences from colleagues, fans, and well-wishers across social media, many expressing shock and heartbreak at the loss.
This tragedy comes just days after the Nollywood community was hit by another devastating loss. Veteran actress Peju Ogunmola recently lost her only son, Ayomikun, who died earlier this week in Ibadan. He was said to be in his early 30s.
The two back-to-back losses have thrown the industry into mourning, with tributes and messages of support flooding in for both families.

In a separate revelation, Chatta recounted the painful memory of losing his first child, a daughter, during a period of financial hardship. According to the actor, the child’s death was compounded by inadequate medical care, and he was unable to afford a proper coffin at the time. He buried her in an old wooden Coca-Cola crate.
The recent bereavement marks yet another chapter of personal loss for the celebrated actor, casting a dark shadow over the Nollywood community.
