Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, who chairs the party’s zoning committee, said the decision followed a meeting of PDP governors and stakeholders, including the board of trustees, former governors, ministers, and other party organs.

Meanwhile, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) is expected to review the zoning proposal for both the national working committee positions and the presidential ticket.

The move comes amid criticism from some PDP leaders in the south-east and south-south, who alleged exclusion from earlier meetings and vowed to reject decisions taken “in secrecy.” Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde has since assured that the party would reach out to aggrieved members.
