An Osun-based Civil Society, The Osun Masterminds, has called on all political parties in the State not to toy with people’s lives and properties ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election, following the announcement of the 2026 election date by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The Society made this call through its Executive Director, Wasiu Oyedokun-Allí, while speaking with journalists at this month’s edition of the State of the State Address, where he warned that governance should not be abandoned at the altar of politics.
“We note with excitement the announcement by the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the 2026 election date and wish to sound a note of warning that governance should not be abandoned at the altar of politics,” he said.
Oyedokun-Alli hinted that the whole nation seems to be overwhelmed with the talk of the next election, and less emphasis is made on a thorough assessment of President Bola Tinubu ‘s mid-term in Office.
The Society further condemned the conduct of the WASSCE English Language paper, wherein candidates were subjected to an unhealthy experience due to logistics failure.
Oyedokun-Alli, however, called for the cancellation of the examination and urged the commission to reschedule the examination as the previous one was written under tension.
“…on this basis, we call for the cancellation and rescheduling of the English language, since most of the candidates wrote under tension and psychological trauma; any test conducted on anyone in this state cannot be relied upon as a test of such parson’s ability, and therefore should be discarded and reconducted,” he asserted.
The Osun-based Civil Society also frowned at the poor state of power supply at the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, which has spilled over for months, calling on the State Government to prioritize health care for residents of the State.
While speaking on paralyzed operations at the Local Government Councils in the State, Oyedokun-Alli further bemoaned the irresponsible behavior across boards and political parties and urged all stakeholders to act responsibly.
