The event featured merriment, donation, and presentation of prestigious awards to the illustrious sons of the town

While speaking with Rédíò Afínjú correspondent, the President of Gbongan Indigenes Association (Abuja Chapter), Jide Ogunyooye expressed his happiness over this year’s celebration and expressed his gratitude to Olufi of Gbongan, Ọba Dr. Adetoyese Oyeniyi Odugbemi.

He enjoined Gbongan indigenes who reside overseas not to forget their roots, as this will ensure cooperation for the coming generation and foster development in the town.

In the same vein, one of the residents of Gbongan, Temitope Oyewole, also urged Gbongan indigenes far and wide to come together as one for the propagation of the town.

Oyewole appealed to foreign investors to partner with them by establishing big companies, adding that Gbongan is an economically enabling land.

In his acceptance speech, one of the awardees at the event and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, expressed his gratitude to the Olufi of Gbongan, Ọba Dr. Adetoyese Olugbemi Oyeniyi, and his chiefs for deeming him responsible for being honored and dedicated the Award to all sons and daughters of Gbongan land.

Babayemi emphasized the importance of the award to him, saying this is the first-ever award he will be receiving since he was a student, adding that he does not accept awards or any chieftaincy offers.

He maintained that the Award marks the new dawn of greatness and development for the town.

Other awardees include Gbenga Adewole, Adisa Ademola , among others.
