The Los Angeles County District Attorney, George Gascon, announced the charges during a press conference. Robert Barceleau and Sergio Estrada, both 18 years, were charged with murder. Another 18-year-old, Leonel Gutierrez, was charged with grand theft and attempted robbery. Additionally, Frank Olano, 22 years old, was charged with being an accessory after the fact. All four men were apprehended.
Wactor, best known for his role as Brando Corbin in the popular soap opera “General Hospital,” was fatally shot when he confronted the thieves. According to police reports, the suspects had raised Wactor’s car to access the catalytic converter, a valuable component often targeted by thieves for its precious metals. When Wactor intervened, one of the suspects allegedly opened fire without provocation, killing him instantly.
The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, and Wactor was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. On August 5th, authorities released surveillance footage of the suspects and their getaway car, appealing to the public for help in identifying them.
District Attorney Gascon expressed deep sorrow over Wactor’s untimely death, describing him as a talented young actor with a bright future.
Wactor’s mother, Scarlett Wactor, shared her grief during a press conference earlier in the week. She described the devastating impact of losing her son, noting that she can no longer celebrate his birthday or ask him about his day. The incident has left her family and friends heartbroken and grappling with the senseless loss.
