The attack, carried out by suspected Boko Haram members, was repelled by troops of Operation Hadin Kai after a fierce battle.
According to a statement by the military, the terrorists used rocket-propelled grenades, armed drones, and improvised explosive devices during the coordinated assault. Despite the heavy exchange of fire, troops held their ground and inflicted significant losses on the attackers.
Four soldiers were killed and five others injured, while some military vehicles sustained varying degrees of damage. The insurgents also planted multiple explosives along the Ngamdu–Damaturu road to block reinforcements, forcing a temporary closure of the route before military engineers cleared the explosives.
