This was disclosed in a statement released by the command’s deputy spokesperson, Babaseyi Oluseyi, that Samuel had only recently completed a six-year prison sentence before returning to violent crime.

According to Oluseyi, investigations showed that on August 18, Samuel, armed with a pistol shot and wounded a businessman, Gbenga Obama, during a daylight robbery on Gbajobi Street, Allen Avenue, Ikeja.

“CCTV footage clearly captured the suspect firing at the victim before snatching a gold necklace and other valuables,” Oluseyi stated. “An accomplice was waiting nearby on a motorcycle to aid his escape.”

The victim sustained gunshot injuries but has since been treated and discharged from the hospital.

Police stated that Samuel later confessed to selling the stolen necklace for ₦4 million, a price far below its actual value.
