In a interview with Taymesan on a podcast, the artist recalled how his experimentation with illicit substances nearly cost him his life, prompting a life-changing decision to quit.

“I was a very bright student while studying at the University of Lagos. But I was indulging in illicit drugs. One day, I took it and almost died. I called my mother to book my flight to return to Abuja,” he said. “After that incident, I only took drugs once more before quitting.”

Odumodublvck, known for mixing street-conscious lyrics with raw storytelling, expressed deep gratitude for surviving that period in his life. He now uses his platform to advocate against drug abuse, especially among youth.

“I’m grateful because some people went into that life and didn’t make it out. Some didn’t survive, some lost loved ones, and some even committed suicide due to drug overdose,” he said. “I’ve seen a pregnant woman and her husband both battling addiction. It’s really terrible,” he added.

The rapper emphasized the devastating consequences of substance abuse and urged fans to steer clear of drugs, citing real-life examples of families torn apart by addiction.
