The protest has left hundreds of commuters plying Sango-Eleyele Road in Ibadan stranded.

The irate student carried placards with different inscriptions, requesting that the State Governor, Seyi Makinde, reconsider his decision and return the polytechnic to its original name.

It was reported that Seyi Makinde had renamed the institution in honour of the late former governor of the state, Omololu Olunloyo, who died at the age of 89.

Recall that Olunloyo was the first Ibadan person to serve as the governor of old Oyo State.

Meanwhile, Redio Afinju had earlier reported that the Students’ Union Government, SUG, of the institution appealed to the Oyo State House of Assembly to reconsider Governor Seyi Makinde’s recent pronouncement to rename the institution.
