Recall that the report has it that the 45-year-old Abdulkabir was on April 21 suspended indefinitely by the Palace of the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal, over alleged disregard for the authority of the monarch and involvement in land grabbing.
The defendant, who was arraigned on four-count charges of defamation, cyberbullying, and threat to harm, had allegedly posted and circulated defamatory statements on social media (WhatsApp) against the person of Akindere.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Addressing the court, the Police Prosecutor in charge of the matter, Sunday Adepoju, said he had evidence that would be presented before the court against the suspect.
Adepoju, therefore, urged the court to allow for an accelerated hearing of the matter.
But Taofeek Oyesiji, who had announced the appearance for the defendants, moved the oral bail application for his client to bail, adding that the charges pressed against Abdulkabir were bailable.
Oyesiji further said the defendant was ill and was admitted to the hospital while being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo.
In her ruling, the Presiding Magistrate, V.A. Adedokun, remanded the defendant to a custodial center and adjourned the case till June 19, 2025.
