According to the security analyst Zagazola Makama, in a post on X, mentioned that the incident occurred at about 10:00 p.m. while the officers identified as Oyomide Zion and Hakeem Mashood were on routine movement in the area.
Makama noted that the Divisional Police Officer of Iddo Division received a distress call and immediately dispatched a patrol team to the scene at about 11:40 p.m.
Upon arrival, another immigration officer, Uduk James, reported that his colleagues had been shot.
The injured officers were evacuated to the Nigerian Air Force Base Hospital in Abuja, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Police sources quoted by Makama said the suspect, known as Pastor Darlington, mistook the officers for armed criminals and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
A manhunt is now underway to apprehend him as authorities urged the public to provide any useful information that may lead to his arrest.
