Tearing at the heartstrings of audiences, “The Voice of Hind Rajab” is considered a strong contender for the Golden Lion and delivers a powerful political statement against Israel’s ongoing siege and bombardment of Gaza.
The film dramatizes the ordeal of a five-year-old Palestinian girl trapped in a car with her deceased relatives as they came under fire while fleeing Israeli troops in Gaza City.
Critics have singled out the film for its impact, with one describing it as the standout of the festival. The Tunisian-French filmmaker uses real audio recordings of the girl pleading for help as night falls and Israeli tanks surround the wreckage where she is trapped.
