The award-winning singer spoke candidly about the emotional toll the incident took on her, as well as the harsh public backlash she faced in its aftermath.
Savage’s sex tape surfaced online in 2021 after she refused to yield to a blackmail attempt. Despite being a victim of extortion, she was widely criticized and blamed, even by prominent figures and media personalities.
“I was bashed for my sex video, a lot of people think I was just trying to get sympathy. Even people with platforms were quite horrible and blamed me,” she recounted.

She went on to express frustration over the way the situation was interpreted by the public.
“I don’t know how they couldn’t see me as the victim in this. They said I did it to be relevant. If I were doing that, I would’ve been intentional about it. I would have used better lighting, lingerie, and my facial expressions would have been on point.”
The singer’s remarks have reignited conversations around victim-blaming, privacy, and how female celebrities are often treated in the media.
