Shittu made this known while featuring on Rédíò Afínjú’s current affairs programme “Gbàgede Ọ̀rọ̀” in celebration of World Police Day.

He stated that the police play a pivotal role in ensuring every citizen complies with the stipulated laws of the land, adding that society would be lawless without the intervention of the police.

The Osun-based activist hinted that just like every other sector of human endeavour, the Force is also a porous entity with people from different backgrounds, thus allowing some bad eggs into the system, citing a case of George Iyamu who connived with armed robbers to perpetrate evil.

He urged the government to provide a conducive working atmosphere for the police while soliciting temper justice punishment for any erring officer, as most of the sacked ones are causing havoc in society.

Speaking on the creation of local police, Shittu affirmed that the Force is understaffed, so the creation of local police will improve their operation and also ensure grassroots participation.
