Spokesperson, William Aya said officers from the Okene Division stormed Yuwander Lodge after receiving intelligence. In one of the rooms, booked by a suspect identified as Christopher Christopher Kadiri, police found a cache of weapons and cash. Kadiri escaped before the raid.

Recovered items include a locally made Beretta pistol, a barrel gun, six rounds of 9mm ammunition, hard drugs, an axe, four mobile phones, and N2,047,300 in cash.

In a related operation, police from Ofu Division recovered another locally made barrel gun, a cutlass, and a Tecno phone in Ogbakpedo village, along the Itobe-Ayingba road. Suspected kidnappers reportedly fled into the bush upon sighting the officers.

The Commissioner of Police, Miller G. Dantawaye, commended the officers for their efforts, calling the operations a clear demonstration of the command’s commitment to tackling crime.

Security experts note a growing trend of women being used to support criminal activities, including renting rooms, handling cash, or helping suspects evade detection.

Kogi’s strategic location between Nigeria’s northern and southern regions has made it a hotspot for armed robbery and kidnapping, with police raids playing a key role in disrupting criminal networks.
