Former Special Adviser to Adegboyega Oyetola, the then Governor of Osun state, Jamiu Olawumi, has revealed that the former speaker of the state house of Assembly, Najeem Salam, has not been formally elected in the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to contest the upcoming gubernatorial election in Osun state.
Olawumi who disclosed this while featuring as guest on Gbagede Oro, a Yoruba current Affairs programme on Redio Affinju, said contrary to some rumours, the All Progressives Congress committee of Elders are not under the influence of any stakeholder or any individual in the party.

He further disclosed that the committee of elders in APC gave order that none of the party members should purchase primary election form for the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state until further notice, however nine of the party members purchased their tickets.

Olawumi, who hinted that the committee of elders was created by the former Governor and Minister of Interior Affairs, Rauf Aregbesola, maintained that the committee is not entrenched in the party constitution.
While speaking on the chances of the party in the forthcoming governorship election, Olawunmi maintained that the party is waxing stronger and preparing for the election in the state.
