The rapper made the remarks during a media briefing in Toronto ahead of a forthcoming show. A video from the session circulated widely on social media, capturing the moment he praised Wizkid’s contributions to global music.

His comment came in response to a question about the pair’s long-running musical collaboration.

“You know that after Fela, Wizkid is the greatest Afrobeats artiste ever,” he said, sparking widespread reactions online.

The statement drew mixed responses, with some fans arguing that no contemporary artiste comes close to Fela in influence, while others applauded Olamide for acknowledging Wizkid’s impact.

Responding to an online post, Olamide reiterated that his view was not intended to undermine any artiste. He added that none of his colleagues, Burna Boy, Davido, or Wizkid, would take offence at his opinion because they are “not narrow-minded”.

“You can’t diminish anyone’s greatness, whether they’re A-list, B-list, or anything else. Feel free to believe what you want or support whoever you choose, there’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone,” he wrote.

He maintained that his remark was simply his honest perspective and not an attempt to elevate one artiste at the expense of others.
