Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news, stating that the Portuguese coach has signed his contract and will take charge immediately, with his first training session.
Nuno replaces Potter, who was dismissed after failing to meet the club’s expectations. The decision follows a disappointing spell that began in the latter half of last season and continued into the early weeks of the current campaign. The board cited an urgent need to improve the team’s Premier League standing.
Potter’s departure also sees the exit of his entire backroom staff, including assistant Bruno Saltor and coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, signalling a full reset at the London Stadium.

Nuno is widely recognised for his achievements at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he led the club from the Championship to the Europa League. He later had brief spells at Tottenham and Saudi side Al-Ittihad, whom he guided to a league title.
West Ham have not yet issued a formal statement beyond confirming Potter’s exit.
