In a statement signed by family head Omolayo Aloba and the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, the family claimed that no statutory or traditional marriage was ever contracted between Mohbad and Omowunmi, as the customary rites required under Yoruba tradition were not completed. They insisted that she must refrain from using the Aloba name publicly or privately until paternity is legally established.

The family reiterated its call for an independent and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death, maintaining that it remains committed to ensuring justice and accountability.

The Aloba family appointed lawyer Oladayo Ogungbe as their official representative for matters concerning the DNA test and the late singer’s estate. Senior Advocate of Nigeria Wahab Shittu will continue to represent the family in dealings with investigative authorities probing Mohbad’s death.
