In a heartfelt Instagram post, Akindoju described the experience as a “bittersweet season” that tested her strength. She revealed that giving birth shortly after her father’s passing forced her to balance grief, career, and motherhood.

“Having a child and losing my daddy weeks apart was not something I hoped for,” she wrote. “But being a mother means showing up no matter what life throws at you.”

Akindoju expressed gratitude to her family, friends, and colleagues for their support, acknowledging that managing a career, grief, breastfeeding, and parenting two young children “took a village.”

She celebrated her son’s first birthday with appreciation for everyone who helped her through the journey, especially her husband, chef Oritse Fregene, whom she described as her “pillar of support” and “understanding partner.”
