Nollywood actor Kunle Afod has revealed his long-standing commitment to supporting veteran actors, a cause he has recently chosen to make public.
In an interview with Biola Bayo, the 51-year-old actor said he had been assisting struggling colleagues privately for many years before deciding to share his efforts more openly.
Afod explained that the decision to publicize his philanthropy came during his 50th birthday celebrations, after reading critical comments on social media accusing the industry of hosting lavish parties while neglecting the pioneers who helped build it.
“I have been doing this for a very long time,” Afod said, recalling how he had personally helped several veteran actors. “I remember my wife met with Aunty Biola and told me about her struggles after being out of the movie scene for a while. I encouraged her that she would still make a comeback.”

The actor added that public criticism motivated him to be more transparent about his aid efforts, which has helped raise awareness and extend support to more veterans.
“People said our veterans are suffering, so I focused on them,” Afod said. “As God would have it, this openness has helped the elderly ones, and that is why I remain committed to supporting all the veterans.”
